01 How I work

The gap is the work.

MARVIN VIACHICA · FOUNDER · OPERATING PHILOSOPHY

Before this practice had a name, I wrote myself a manifesto: three principles about learning, shipping, and being useful. Clients feel them in every engagement, so they belong in public.

02 Where this comes from

I'm Marvin Viachica. The lines in quotation marks on this page come from that manifesto, kept word for word; the text around them is the website talking. The same convention this site uses for numbers applies to sentences: if it's set as a quote, I actually wrote it.

The manifesto calls itself unfinished by design, a stake in the ground that reality is expected to test and revise. I hold strategy documents, audits, and this site to the same rule.

Sit in the gap

"The gap is not the obstacle between me and the answer. The gap is the only place anything interesting happens."

The space between what your data shows and what it means is uncomfortable, and most advice exists to close it fast with a template. "Closing the gap too fast is just a way of refusing to learn." I stay in it until the real question surfaces.

In the engagement The diagnostic: one to two weeks inside your data before any prescription. The readout is a working session because the questions are still live.
P-02

Make it real

"If I cannot point to the place where the idea touched the ground, I have not finished thinking. I have only finished talking."

"Ideas that stay abstract are decoration." Every framework I use has survived contact with a customer, a number, or a real conversation. An audit that ends in a slide deck is finished talking, not finished thinking.

In the engagement The build: fixed scope, shipped in your accounts, live in production. The idea touches the ground or it doesn't count.
P-03

Leave people sharper

"Present. Not indispensable. There is a difference, and the difference is the whole point."

Dependence is the bad version of help. The good version raises the floor you stand on and steps back: a better question, a clearer frame, a system your team runs without me.

In the engagement The handoff and the retainer: systems documented and owned by you. The goal is that you need less of me over time.
The engagement ladder is this page applied. The diagnostic sits in the gap, the build makes it real, the handoff leaves you sharper. It was a philosophy before it was a service structure.
04 Unfinished by design
"I will treat being wrong out loud as cheaper than being right in private, because the wrong thing in the world teaches me something the right thing in my head never will."

That is why the Insights posts ship with their methodology and their error bars attached: so the thesis can be checked, and so being wrong costs a correction instead of a quarter.

05 Next step

If this is how you want to work, start with the diagnostic.

One to two weeks inside your data, fixed fee, ending in a working readout. Tell me the thing nobody on your team can quite explain yet; that is usually where the gap is.
